Sophocles
Σοφοκλῆςc. 496-406 BC
Sophocles was an Athenian tragedian who won first prize at the Dionysia more often than any rival. Seven of his plays survive complete, among them Antigone, Oedipus the King and Oedipus at Colonus, which treat the royal house of Thebes.
